This event will feature Cari A. Taplin, CG, an avid user and champion of PERSI; Dawne Slater, AG, CG, one of the original project supervisors from the Allen County Public Library (ACPL); and genealogy expert Jeanette Sheliga, who will moderate the conversation. You will learn:
- the history of PERSI,
- why it works the way it does,
- how best to use PERSI, and
- how to obtain copies of articles.
Cari A. Taplin, CG®, is related to Roy Rogers. Or at least that’s what her family told her. As a result, finding her true heritage has been her focus since 2000. She is a research manager for AncestryProGenealogists® and began using PERSI after learning about it at a local genealogical society meeting in Colorado. She writes a blog that focuses on methodology at GenealogyPants, and her research focuses on midwestern and Great Lakes states.
Dawne Slater, AG®, CG®, is a genealogist for AncestryProGenealogists® and has been a genealogy professional for thirty-seven years. She holds the Certified Genealogist® and Accredited Genealogist® credentials, the latter with a specialty in African American research. Before joining Ancestry in 2015, she was a genealogy reference librarian at the ACPL Genealogy Center and started her genealogy career as the second PERSI project supervisor.
Jeanette Sheliga of Jeanette’s Genealogy lives in New York and has been researching her family tree since 2002 and lecturing since 2011. She has had the privilege to speak for societies, libraries, and institutes, publish articles in various genealogy magazines, and hold leadership positions in local and national societies.
