Dr. Robert and Sarah Matthews owed the land on which the church was built.  The approximately one acre of land was part of “Hammonds 5 Connection”.  It was surveyed by J.R. Woodward on February 10, 1892 and the May 24, 1892 deed states that the Rising Members of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the Fourth Election District paid $30.00 in cash for the land.   Camp meetings were held at the church with members coming by rail. The church was on the Severn Charge in 1895, the Waterbury Charge in 1902, and the Waterbury-Mt. Tabor Charge in 1906.  In 1939 the church became the Macedonia Methodist Church and in 1969 it became the Macedonia United Methodist Church when it merged with the United Brethren Church.
The Capital newspaper dated June 8, 1994 entitled “This church is a family affair” indicated that the church was planning to receive .75 acres from a parishioner to expand the size of the graveyard
