This is a parish of the Patriarchate of Moscow. The Holy Trinity Church was incorporated in Maryland on March 18, 1919 by immigrants from the Ukraine and Byelorussia (today’s Poland and Ukraine) who fled poverty and political unrest. The church and rectory are located at 1723 E. Fairmount Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21231 in East Baltimore. (410) 276-6171. The Saints Peter & Paul Chapel was built in 1939 for Sundays when a family-style church picnic was planned. In the early 1930’s membership dropped and a small group broke from the Church. In 1947 Baltimore City bought this land for the airport and the property was condemned.
Ten acres east of the chapel were leveled and the cemetery created. It took 18 months to complete the sale and transfer the graves. Baltimore City sold the chapel back to the Church for one dollar and it was placed at the site of the former mansion. Construction of Route 95 in the 1960’s resulted in 15 –acres of the land to be taken from the cemetery. A new entrance was created. Records have been intermingled with newer burials.
