One approx. six year old child
Grave of a six-year-old child found in October 2002 buried under the floorboards of a wooden house built between 1720-1725 now called the Carpenter’s Shop on Scott Street.  Such burials were common among slaves in the Caribbean, especially on Barbados, a major trading partner with London Town.  On May 8, 2003 a ceremony was held to re-inter the remains to their original location.
Information was published in newspaper articles in The Capital dated May 6, 2003 “Slave child’s remains to be re-interred at London Town” and May 9, 2003 “Slave child reburied in London Town ceremony” and in the county archeology newsletter Letters from Lost Towns, Spring 2003 “Back to the Earth” by Al Luckenbach.
