April 22, 1988 issue of the Annapolis newspaper, The Capital, indicates that a developer dug up part of the cemetery consisting of “about 10 gravesites, with some dating back to the late 1880s.” Another article from the same newspaper gives an account on May 23, 1988, p. A5 entitled “Gravestones disturbed in Deale.”
