St. Andrew's Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery (BWI-historic)
(Anne Arundel)
near, but south of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery
BWI, Maryland
Previously located on land now owned by BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, near but south of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery. Located between the western ends of Runways 10/28 and 15R/331. It has been relocated to East Baltimore's German Hill Road Cemetery circa 1948 or 1949.
Approximately 31 graves, dates unknown
St. Andrews has been mistakenly referenced as a Roman Catholic church cemetery; however, it was a Russian Orthodox cemetery. St. Andrews Church was located in East Baltimore. Eastern European immigrants had no room for burying grounds in the city, but found easily accessible land near the Stony Run railroad station. The cemetery was established after 1907 and was relocated by the aviation commission following the purchase of the property in the late 1940s. The cemetery may have contained as many as 40 graves. Some graves were moved to St. Andrew’s German Hill Cemetery on German Hill Road in Baltimore City.
